Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Principal Residence

My mother has two residences, a single family house in Annandale, Virginia (which is her principal residence), and a condo in Miami, Florida. She is currently living in Miami and would like to permanently change her mailing address from Virginia to Florida. Would this change of address affect her claiming Virginia as her principal residence?

Re: Principal Residence

That could depend upon other factors such as the amount of time your mother actually spends in the Commonwealth vs, Florida, the state where she's licensed to drive and vote, the state where she pays the majority of her taxes, and the address she lists as her domicile on her IRS Form 1040, and other important documents such as pension and retirement forms, etc.
