Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
property
we sold 5 acres to a family member at cost to us, we told him this property was to be kept in the family, he could not resell to turn a profit, he and his wife agreed swearing they meant to live there for life. Here it is 3 1/2 years later and he has put it up for sale. Is there anything we can do?There are many witnesses to this agreement.

Re: property
Unless the agreement to this restriction was memorialized in writing, preferably with some reference in the deed itself, I would think not.
