Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Property title after death

My husband passed away two months ago and his will left everything to me. The current title to our house has both our names on it. My insurance company says I need to provide them a copy of the deed showing only my name. Can I just rewrite the deed showing only my name and have it recorded at the court house, or do I have to go thru some sort of process?

Re: Property title after death

Assuming the property was titled as tenants by the entireties, there is no deed to be recorded. The deed to both spouses plus the death certificate should suffice.
