Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
I purchased a home in Virginia with a real estate agent friend in 2006 with the intention of flipping the house. Everything was fine for about the first 12-15 months with splitting the mortgage cost, reprairs etc. Since this time he has not made any payments at all and has had nothing to do with the property. I have been renting the property out since this time and paying the remaining mortgage portion myself. He has made no effort to even contact me and discuss the home situation during the 3 years. I now have a potential buyer for the home but both of our names are on the deed and I am the only one listed on the mortgage. What are my options??

Either buy his interest out or have a partition suit filed in the circuit
court where the property is located.
