Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Real Estate Law

I have been married for eleven years. My name is not on the deed or on the mortgage of the home my husband purchased six years ago. For the last four months, my husband has refused to pay the mortgage (and all other bills) even though he has the money. Is there anything I can do to keep him from forcing foreclosure on our home? I am currently a full-time student, and do not want my own credit threatened, or money problems following me to job interviews. I am studying to be a CPA!

Re: Real Estate Law

Yes, you could file for divorce and demand your rightful share of the marital property from the marriage(which might slow the slide toward foreclosure but not necessarily prevent it).
