We recently purchased a lot in a subdivision, and after we closed on the property, a month later we were notified by James City County and the builder about a sidewalk/bike path that is to go between our lot and the lot next to us. This was never disclosed to us or the owners in the lot next to ours. What legal right do we have, if we would have know this prior to buying the home we wouldn't of purchased the home. What can we do.

I would say, at this time, probably, very little, particularly if the decision by the city to establish what is apparently a kind of municipal easement occurred after you closed.
