Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I own real estate with a niece. It may be that my name was added to the deed incorrectly & that I am not really an owner. My son told me there is a law in Virginia that if your name is on a piece of real estate for 20 years or more, it is considered yours even if you really didn't own it or pay for it. Is that true? Also, my son said I should put the real estate in question into my revoccable trust because if I do, it is immune to litigiation. Is that true? Thank you.

I know of no such law as referenced by your son.

And rather than attempting to transfer the property into a revocable trust, you would be better advised(in my opinion) to discuss the matter with an attorney who handles real property law and probate matters and who can review the deed for its accuracy and, perhaps, correct any flaws that possibly should be corrected in it to ensure the validity of your ownership claim.
