Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
Real Estate Release
My father died last summer. My siblings and I need to get a letter from our step mom relinquishing our fathers home to us. We've already been name executors of his estate and don't anticipate problems from her. What kind of legal document should we use? I found software called full and final release. It is used for final releases in all states that allows a party to release another party from all past and present claims.
Could we use that for real estate? Thank you.

Re: Real Estate Release
No. If she owns it, you need a deed; if she's disclaiming an inheritance, you need something else. In any event, you need a lawyer. Don't try to affect title to real estate without one.
