Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Remove my name from the Deed

My wife and I are both listed on the Deed to our house. I would like to remove my name and just leave her name on the Deed. How do I go about doing this in the state of VA and can I do this without seeing a lawyer?

Re: Remove my name from the Deed

You could both execute a quitclaim deed conveying

your respective interests only to your wife and then have the new deed recorded in the land records of the circuit court in the city or county where the property is located. (And, yes, it would seem prudent to have an attorney who is knowledgeable and experienced in title matters and real property law to at least review the transaction.)
