Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Removing a roommate.

WE have an elderly lady living in our home. She is my husband's Birth Mother and we helped her out for almost a year. I am now seriously ill and we have asked her to find a different place to stay. She has not, what legal recourse do we have if any? We are not legally tied to her. Please help.

Re: Removing a roommate.

Rather than having the elderly lady arrested and removed as a trespasser, you may wish to contact your local department of social services or other local agencies which may advise on senior citizen issues to see what suggestions they might have. (As to your assertion that "we are not legally tied to her", that may not be entirely true, as under Virginia law, children can have legal responsibilty for their parents in certain circumstances.)
