rental agreement

I recently signed a lease in an aparment in Virginia. I would like to either get me a roommate or move my boyfriend in to help with rent. Is that allowed in Va. The lease says that no one can live there but me so can I add a person legally

If the lease contains a provision which states that no one can live there but you then you would be violating the lease(and could be evicted) if you allowed someone to live with you unless you got the landlord's prior written approval to do so.
