responsibility for broken sewer

The sewer line running from the street to my home has collapsed. My sewer line is run through my neighbors yard. The part of the line that is crushed is in my neighbors yard. Whose is legally responsible to repair the line? my neighbor or myself?

I would suggest that you call your local department of public works(or its equivalent) and ask them who is responsible for the repair

of the sewer line in this particular situation, i.e, you or the city?

(If the neigbor does not connect to this line,

it cannot be him; he has merely provided an easement for its access to your property.)
