Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Responsibility of a co-owner

My boyfriend and I purchased a mobile home in may 2004. He left the home in November 2006. He is the co-owner on the loan. He just notified me in May 2008 if I did not pay him for work he did to the home in 2004, he would take me to small claims court. I have advised him I want him to agree to sign but he has not gotten back to me. Does he have the right to take me to small claims court for work he did to the home while living there?

Re: Responsibility of a co-owner

Put your offer of settlement in writing to him with the terms of the agreement and then wait for him to respond. However, if you don't hear from him

and he files suit against you in small claims court, you may then wish to consult with an attorney as to how you might best defend yourself in this matter.
