Road maintenance fees for lot I never visit - Must I pay?
My parents split lots from their property (subdivided)for their kids. The lots are only accessible by the roads in an adjoining subdivision. My parents made an agreement to abide by the restrictions of the adjoining subdivision, which includes an annual property owners fee. I was not aware of this until recently, and wonder if I have to pay even though I don't use the roads or visit the lot. The association performs no maintenance on the (wooded) lot. I would be glad to pay if I decide to build there, but right now, am I responsible for paying for something I don't use (the private road)?

It is likely that you are liable for the assessments pursuant to a real covenant that runs with the land.
