Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Safe Deposit Box

My husband is an heir, along with his two brothers, to the estate of his parents. There was a safe deposit, which had the names of his parents or one of the brothers. My question is: although the brother's name was on the box does this entitle him to the contents of the box? My husband feels that since the bother contributed nothing to the contents that it should belong to the estate. Thank you.

Re: Safe Deposit Box

It's up to the executor of the estate to collect

all the assets belonging to the estate and to list them on the inventory statement.

Whether the item you've referenced should be part of this estate inventory is a decision for the executor.
