Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

My son is on a lease with 3 others. We all cosigned, but 2 aren't paying on time or at all. We called the landlord who told us if 1 goes down they all go down. The landlord has also affected our credit without notifying us that the rent was past due. Is there anything that can be done?

Yes, the landlord's got it right in terms of who's responsible for this lease, i.e.,

one for all and all for one, you might say.

The law calls it joint and several liability.

Yes, you can continue to pay whatever is due each month until the date this lease naturally expires/terminates.
