Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Stormwater Run-off From Neighbor's Yard

My neighbors (at a higher elevation)have redirected their drainage spouts and stormwater now is pouring water into my yard. Are they responsible for directing the water to the curb, rather than into my yard? Do I have any recourse?

Re: Stormwater Run-off From Neighbor's Yard

Yes, you could probably sue these neighbors for maintaining a private nuisance and for your damages resulting therefrom if they refuse to correct the problem.
