getting sued from former apartment

my husband is in the navy. we moved from VA to GA at the end of jan so we didnt have to pay our apartment for being there in feb.we were on a month to month lease because we didnt know when his orders were coming through. we are getting sued for the month of feb. what can we do???

I'll defer to VA lawyers on the law, but some basics missing from your post are the terms of the lease or other agreements, and specifically the notice requirements, as well as the specific claims made in the lawsuit. However, as you have been sued, the choices are generally to properly defend, risk a judgment, or contact the lawyer to settle.

Subsection(A)may provide you a way out

of liability if you complied with the notice requirements(to landlord) of subsection(B).
