Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
A Title By Alienation URGENT ANSWER
When two unmarried people are living together and one leaves, does that qualify as a Title by Alienation?
Does a Title by Alienation require a written title?
Are there time frames that are required for this type of title?
After leaving if the locks on the house are changed does that have any effect on the title?

Re: A Title By Alienation URGENT ANSWER
No, title is not conveyed by "alienation" in the Commonwealth under the circumstances described merely because one of the co-owners abandons the "marital roost", so to speak.
And, furthermore, if the remaining co-owner decides to change the locks on the doors, such action would have no effect whatsoever on the state of the title and the other co-owner could return and legally bust down the doors to gain entry to his or her property(if necessary).
