Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I have trees with branches extending over property line. Neighbor claims I am required to cut limbs to point they do not extend over property line.

No, under Virginia "tree law", you have no such obligation as an owner of

trees with branches protruding over a property line. Your neighbor, however, is

entitled to trim these offending limbs back to conform roughly with the

lay of the property line, being careful not to damage the trees in the process

and thereby incurring liability from a mishandled tree trimming exercise.
