Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Unlawful Detainer?

I was just searching for medical judgments from my past, to try to clear any old debts etc.

While doing this, I found and Unlawful Detainer case from 7 yrs ago! it shows it was filed in 1-2001. I lived in the home where a landlord passed on. His daughters took over the property. they put it up for sale. I was all paid until his passing. I may, I believe, possibly owe for the month between his passing, and the property sale. I moved once requested by the landlords children. I dispute the time amt without question.

My question is, what do I do now?

This was 7 yrs ago and I had no idea because when I moved, I left the state.

Where do I go with this from here?

(It is listed as Warrant in Debt, and I am the Plaintiff).

Re: Unlawful Detainer?

If a warrant in debt resulted in a judgemnt against you, you would be listed as the defendant and not the plaintiff.

If the amount of the judgment is no more than two months rent or so, you may wish to contact your judgment creditor to see if a settlement can be worked out in order to get the judgment removed from the record.
