Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Validity of a Sales Contract after the Death of the Seller

My father passed away in October of 2006. In April of 2006 he accepted a contract to sell 25 acres of land in Louisa County Va. to a buyer. The sale never happened. My father was ill & was selling the land for much less than it was worth, probably to get the matter resolved quickly for his heirs. My step-mother & I now own the land. Are we legally obligated to honor this sales contract?
