Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Vehicle Possession

I have a truck that the loan is in my name that my ex in in possession of. He was suppose to pay it off within a year of our breakup. It has now been over two years. He is repeatedly late with payments which has dented my credit. I asked him to return the truck so I could sell it to cover the remaining payments as well as the other debts he created in my name. He states legally I have no rights to the truck as he has been making payments-despite the fact that I traded my other vehicle as a down payment. Is this correct? Thank you

Re: Vehicle Possession

No, it is not correct since you clearly have an ownership interest in this vehicle. As to what his ownership interest might be, it might take a judge to make that determination.
