Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Vrlta

How do I know if my lease is covered under this act? Are all written, legally binded leases in the Commonwealth of VA automatically covered or am I looking for a particular clause? Thanks!

Re: Vrlta

If you're referring to the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act(VRLTA), the lease itself should make reference to whether it's covered under this Act. Va. Code Sec. 55-248.2 thru 55.248.40. Sec. 55-248.5 lists the exemptions to the Act as well as, yes, the exceptions to the exemptions.

And, no, not "all written, legally binded(sic)leases in the Commonwealth of VA (are) automatically covered".
