Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

How to get wifes permission to sell real estate when wife is a foriegn national

I am recently married to a philippine national. We currently are awaiting her visa application so that she can enter the U.S. In the mean time, I own several rental properties and wish to sell one. My real estate agent tells me I must have my wife's permission to sell the property, even though it is only in my name. Does this apply given that she is a foreign national who has never been to the U.S. and currently cannot legaly enter? Will a general power of attorney assigning me as her agent but executed in the Philippines and notorized by a Philippne notary be accepted in the US for this purpose? How best should I proceed?

Your real estate agent is wrong. If it is your property, and she is not on title, you can sell it.
