Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Virginia

Is this a harrassment issue?

I'm not sure if I have committed a harrassing act but yesterday at work I made a joke to a male co-worker and it made him mad and he said to me if I ever said that again he would have me up for harrassment. I didn't mean to offend him in any way and I immediatly apoligized to him and said I didn't mean to offend him. I understand the consquences of a harrasment charge and I do not need that brought up against me. I just want to know if its a one time thing and you apologize to the person sincerely can they still press charges against you. I will most likely never joke around with this person again and will try to avoid being around him in the future.
