Re: How long do I have?

The time frames for submitting your claim to the EEOC vary from 180 to 300 days from the date of the last alleged discriminatory act, depending upon whether there is a state or local agency

where you live which is empowered by state

or local antidiscrimination law to investigate your claim and grant relief if warranted.

Your best approach is to contact your nearest EEOC

office to determine which of the above applies to your situation and where exactly you should go to file your claim.

Claims may be filed either in person, by mail, or even over the telephone. Before you can proceed to sue in federal court for the alleged discrimination, you must first obtain from the

EEOC a so-called "right to sue" letter of authorization.
