Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Virginia

My mother was falsely accused of fondling a child. I was summoned by the prosecuting attorneys... The Commonwealth of Virginia; to testify against her. Why was I summoned by them and not my mothers attorney? Is there some way I can get out of this?

If you mean that you were served with a subpoena to appear for the prosecution

as a witness in their case against your mother, you must appear or face possible sanction(s). Nevertheless, if your mother has been falsely accused, your truthful testimony in the matter (whether for the prosecution or the defense) should reflect the fact of her innocence.
