Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Virginia

Musical Attempted Rape

My 25 year old daughter is a food & beverage manager at a country club. while hosting a Luau, which involved kareoke, the new general manager (male) picked out a song and asked his employee, my daughter, to sing with him. Once the song began she realized it was the Jimmy Buffet song, Let's get drunk & screw. She walked off the stage, but he continued singing the song using her name several times in the song. This was done in front of approximately 30 members of the club and her staff of 5. She was devastated and wants to resign the position she loves. The corporate management has tried to contact her all day today, but she does not want to speak with them yet. Several club members and staff have called them to report the incident. Should she seek legal counsel? She does not want anything except her job, with him GONE. Can you advise?

Re: Musical Attempted Rape

Your daughter should respond to the contact from

corporate management and express her feelings to them.

If what you have described is a one time event and not part of a larger pattern of sexually harassing activities targeted at your daughter during the course of her employment, I would doubt that she would have a viable basis to bring suit.
