Same sex harassment

A coworker was recently laid off of work and is alledging that he was fired for refusing same sex advances from his supervisor. The coworker never reported the behavior to HR and the one time I heard anything I would not have interpreted as sexual harassment but the coworker said that he felt harassed. The supervisor asked my coworker if he wanted to go to a party at his house that evening and my co-worker responded that he is a busy college student and does not have time to socialize and for his supervisor to quit trying to change him. I asked him why he didn't report this behavior to HR and he said it was because he was embarassed. Does this coworker have a case?

The co-worker should probably contact his nearest EEO office and discuss it with one of their representratives, and then file a formal complaint if appropriate and let them investigate it.
