Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Virginia

sexual harassment

First, THANK YOU for this service /website!!! I am a teacher and a student asked me to ''rub her butt'' in front of the class. I informed an assistant principal and wrote a detailed referral on the student. The assistant principal told me he didn't think it was ''harrassment''. The student was only talked to and I also called the parent per our school policy. What is the law on this. The student is 16. I feel she should at least be in another class other than mine.

Re: sexual harassment

The federal law which you're probably thinking about that prohibits sexual harrassment in the workplace would not be applicable to the situation which you've described since the alleged perpetrator (student) is not an employee of the school system.)
