Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Virginia

Sexual Harrassment

I am in a civic club and a another member said this 26 year old girl wanted to go to bed with me, I am 60 years old. I told him I woud like to live another day so forget it and what do you want. All he wanted was a 2 inch ball to pull a trailer in the local parade. I talked to the girl several days later and she said she wished he would stop and it was very embarrassing and it hurt. I asked a Deputy Sheriff and told him what she said and he told me i must report this to some one in charge, so I did. Now the civic wants to bar me from doing any work at the Fair Grounds. I have been ther over 20 years. There is nothing in there BY Laws that say they can dothis. The man has been saying things about other ladys for years that have to do with sex.

Re: Sexual Harrassment

What you have described would not qualify as an issue involving illegal sexual harassment of your person. Rather it would appear that you've become the victim of retaliatory behaviour on the part of what one might term "higher ups" in the civic club who were apparently offended by the information which you properly reported to them. (Perhaps, the fellow you reported on is one of their cronies.)

It would seem that you need to follow through with further reporting of this unsavory episode to other members of this civic club who may be in positions of authority and who can retore you to your previous status with the club, or, in the event that that avails nothing, then take this particular tale of "civic unworthiness" to the local news media and "let the chips fall where they may", so to speak.
