Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Virginia

sexual harrassment over phone from an employee to customer

Called Sprint Customer service to inquire about account infomration, and representative made comments about ''Puertorrican women bodies, eyes, height, shape, etc. that were completely out of order. When mentioned my husband he replied with ''don't break my heart''among other comments. Filed complaint with Sprint's Customer Serive and Corporate Security, but was finally told that I would not get response from Sprint, other than ''we're sorry''. Call made me literally sick and I feel disgusted. Couldn't sleep last night thinking about what he said.

Even when this question has been answered you may not find it satisfactory. So, I am taking the liberty of explaining some things.

Civil rights are at the heart of our social understanding. The treatment you received is offensive, and up to a certain point, counterproductive to the corporation, in this case Sprint.

However, these rights are often enforceable under a limited set of statutes and laws, and this situation does not seem like the type of situation that is covered by those statutes. In other words, I would dare to say that your claim, and placing it within some actionable framework is a challenging and may be a wholly academic exercise.

However, I would not venture to say that you lack a meritorious claim.
