Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
Hi,
I am 8 months pregnant and I have been pulled over for speeding this morning. My bladder was full and I already have been driving for almost and hour with severe back pain. Do you think I can go to court to defend myself and get this ticket dismissed. Please advise.

I think you can certainly go to court and present your case respectfully and calmly to the judge. I cannot predict whether the judge will agree that it is adequate justification for exceeding the speed limit. Keep in mind that the hearing will be in public as is required by the Constitution. An attorney can certainly assist you with this matter by helping to negotiate with the officer and the judge and presenting it in the best light. Only you can decide how comfortable you feel speaking to the judge.
No, I would doubt that the ticket would be dismissed under the facts described.
You, might, however, succeed in getting the speeding charge reduced by speaking to the prosecutor assigned to your case before court begins on the morning of your scheduled hearing.
