Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
Court Date Aug 10th 2004 Second Speeding Ticket Ever
Here it goes, I have had one speeding ticket in 2000 which was dismissed. I plead no contest and took a driving education course. I pulled my driving record and I have +5 points, no violations, and it also shows the driving class I took in high school to obtain my liscense, as well a the one I took in 2000 to eliminate the speeding charge. Theone in 2000 says court ordered beside it, but does not say why (although that is probably obvious). Now I just got the last ticket I plan to ever get on Saturday. I got the ticket for doing 76 in a 55 and honestly I was, however I just bought the car and I have never owned a V6 ( I have to and will in the future pay much better attention to the speedometer. I realized I was speeding a began to slow down, but it was too late. The officer knocked off a few miles and gave me speeding when he could have given me wreckless, however I am not a habitual anything and I am a very safe driver. I make no excuses, I am jsut getting used the power of my new vehicle and I do not want to my insurance premiums to rise as they already did when I bought the new car intially. My court date is Aug 10th. Oh, the Officer was a State Trooper and sited 46.2-870 HELP!! Thanks

See the prosecutor assigned to your case before court in order to determine whether he or she might be willing to drop it to 65(or thereabouts) in return for your guilty plea.
However, before you make any specific commitments to enter a plea of guilty, you should first ascertain whether the officer who ticketed you
is in court on the morning of your hearing.(If the officer is not available to support the prosecution's case you may be able to secure a dismissal of the charge,)
