What am I to do?
If you are driving behind a truck and a stone or pebble fly into your windshield, leaving it cracked or broken. Who is liable for the damages that are inflicted?

It depends on where the stone or pebble comes
from. If it comes off the truck due to failure
of the owner and/or operator to have the fungible
cargo properly secured, they can be held liable
for any damage caused to vehicles struck by these
objects.
However, no liability will attach if the errant
stone or pebble comes from off the road itself.
