Driving w/ suspended liscense
i went to the pre-trial hearing, and said i didn't need a lawyer. the judge says i can face a fine and/or 6 months in jail!!! do i need a lawyer? i am scared as i do NOT want to go to jail! i have a clean record if that counts.

Yes, DWS(Driving While Suspended)is a jailable offense in the Commonwealth but no first time offender goes to jail
for conviction of this offense. However, if at all possible, you should have an attorney
representing you to ensure that the matter is settled with minimum adverse consequences to you. (FYI, the issue of whether you had proper notice of the suspension is important in these DWS cases.)
