Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
How do I file a ''Continuance request''?
I have a court date coming up on January 2, 2007 for driving while suspended and I have not paid all the fees to my lawyer. He said he will not represent if all fees are not paid. I am wondering if there is a way to file for a continuance of the case before January 2 or do I have to show up in court that day and ask for it?

Re: How do I file a ''Continuance request''?
Most courts (including general district traffic courts)like to have
notices of requests for continuances in previously scheduled matters filed at least a week ahead(of the scheduled date). However, given the holiday period which invariably affects almost everyone's schedule, there should still be time enough for you to make and have your request processed if you go to the clerk's office on Tuesday (or whenever they reopen) of the coming week and explain what you wish to do.
