Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

general reckless driving

I was pulled over by an officer based on the report of another off duty police officer that i was driving reckless, hours before. whe i left the house nearly 30 minutes later, i was pulled over without breaking any traffic laws, but because of the off duty officers observations. After talking with me, the officer asked if i knew what the deal was. when i responded no, he said to drive safely, never once hinting that two days later a different officer would write me a reckless driving ticket. can i get a ticket from an off duty police officer, after getting pulled over by another officer, and on top of that never be told while i was detained i would get a ticket?

Re: general reckless driving

Of course(you just got one), but does that mean that you shouldn't contest it in traffic court? Of course, not.
