Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
I was issued a ticket for following a police officer too closely. He stated that on a road doing 45 miles per hour I should be 40 feet behind the car in front of me. This I have never heard of. I have heard good braking distances. He was actually following the car in front of him closer than I was behind him. I was a good 10 feet behind him if not more. I have a clean driving record well 0pts the last time I checked. What can I do to keep my record clean?

Contest the ticket at the scheduled hearing in traffic court.

Hire an attorney who can recommend a suggested driving class to assist in court. There are some defenses but your information is too brief.
