It sounds like you have made up your mind about the facts beng against you and that you will undoubtedly be found guilty. Most courts will grant you 15 calendar days to pay a fine from the date of hearing (court date). If additional time is necessary, one would ask the clerk of court for a further extension. Some courts grant this without a fee - others charge $10 for this privilege. Maximum time to pay is generally 90 days in most courts of Virginia.

Normally, yes you are expected to pay both the court costs and the fine immeidately. However, if you cannot, be VERY, VERY sure that you TELL the judge VERY clearly before he moves on to the next case that you need a payment plan. If you have a good explanation for why you need more time, the judge will probably give you more time.

However, don't forget that your license can be SUSPENDED for failing to pay the fine. So be sure you get the judge to note the payment plan very clearly on your file.
