Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
mistake on speeding ticket
Recently I was ticketed for driving 80 mph on a 55 mph highway. Although the truck that I was driving is registered in Mississippi, the trooper that stopped me mistakenly wrote MI(abbr. for Michigan) on the citation instead of MS(abbr. for Mississippi). Can this be ''thrown out'' in court and have no affect on my driving record?

Re: mistake on speeding ticket
No, not for this kind of minor error which can easily be corrected, if there's a need, by the prosecutor on the morning of your hearing by
simply making an oral motion to the court to amend the charge.
