Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
Officer Mistake on Summons
I was given a ticket for reckless driving--for going 21 mph over the limit. The officer checked the box that said I didn't have to go to court and could prepay the fine. I went to pay the fine and the court clerk told me because I was going more than 20 mph over the speed limit, I HAD to show up at court even though the officer checked the box and TOLD me in person that I didn't have to go to court. Is there anything I can do about this? Is this legal?
Thanks!

Re: Officer Mistake on Summons
You had best show up for court on the appointed date and explain it all to the judge.
