Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Police Officer T Bones me

Hello I was at an intersection going north bound that had red blinking lights. I stopped at the intersection and began to proceed. The traffic going East to West had yellow blinking lights. As I began to cross the intersection an unmarked vehicle heading west T boned the back end of my vehicle causing me to spin out 3 times and land on the side walk in front of someones yard. He was in a residential neighborhood going over 40 mph. He had yellow lights which I thought meant that he was supposed to slow down but many witnesses have stated that he picked up speed. I believe that he may have came from the parking lot inside of the community because he was not on the road when I began to pull off from the red light. The road way was two lanes on each side and I was almost through the intersection going around 10 mph. I have a swollen leg, cuts on my face, and back pain. My vehicle is a total loss. Is it automatically ''my fault'' or do I have a fighting chance with a good lawyer. The police did not give me an accident report or anything. They wanted to give me a summons for not yield but I refused to sign it and they made me go to jail for about 15 minutes and instead gave me a subpoena. I plan on getting a lawyer should I?

Re: Police Officer T Bones me

Should you get a lawyer for this matter, particularly, now that the cops are apparently now trying to turn you into the "bad guy" and make you primarily responsible for the this accident?

How else are you going to have any fighting chance to win?
