Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

I pulled into a no parking zone to pick up my son who was coming out of a store. My car was running, in 'drive' and I just had my foot on the brake the entire time. I wasn't there more than one minute when a police officer asked to see my license and registration. My son was already in the car (he found my registration). I have a squeaky clean driving record but received a ticket for "parking in a no parking zone". I was not parked! I think I should have received a warning only, if that much, since there were no 'no stopping or standing' signs anywhere and my record shows that I obey the law, always. Should I fight this and should I get an attorney? This is in Virginia, Frederick County if that makes a difference. Thank you.

Yes, go to traffic court in Winchester to contest the ticket and explain your position to the judge, but don't waste money on an attorney for a matter

that you should be able to handle yourself.
