Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
Read Rights
On the Virginia Parkway, under federal law, does the Park Ranger have to read your rights to you when arrested? Also, do all passengers have to wear their seat belt in the back seat of your car when on the parkway and if so, when arrested do the cops have to buckle you in?

Re: Read Rights
Miranda rights must be read to a person detained in police custody before a police interrogation can legally commence. All passengers and the driver of a vehicle motoring over federal property must comply with the laws of the state in which the federal property is located. Virginia law requires all occupants of a vehicle to be buckled up in a moving vehicle whether on the G.W. Parkway or elsewhere.
