Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
I just received a ticket for "Disregarding a highway sign" (46.2-830) in Chesterfield County, VA. According to the officer, I was going 12 mph over the speed limit. He was fairly cool about it and wrote me for that ticket as opposed to speeding. What is my best course of action? The cop told me to go to court and all I'd have to do is go to driving school and it would be expunged. Is that my best option? Should I try and fight the case and plead not guilty? Any advise would help, thanks!

Yes, it's probably your best option if the officer appears for your scheduled hearing.
However, if the officer fails to appear, then it's probably best to oppose any
continuance by the Commonwealth and move for dismissal of the case for want of prosecution.
