Re: Reckless Driving

Get an attorney to represent you on the reckless driving charge, if at all possible. However, if you simply cannot return to Virginia for whatever reason to contest this charge at the place and date appointed for the hearing, you could write the clerk of the Virginia Traffic Court involved with the matter and request to be tried in your absence and detail in this letter any extenuating or mitigating circumstances which might explain why you were traveling in excess of 20 mph above the posted speed limit.

Previous answer continued: and respectfully request that the Court consider lowering the charge to a speeding infraction(less than 80mph).
