Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
Reckless driving legal fee
Hi!
I recently got a ''reckless driving'' ticket in the Virginia Beach area (on I-264) (55/78). I have a clean NY state driving record. I am interested in contesting the charge but would like to see if there are any pros and cons of being tried in absence. Also what's the typical attorney fee involved in such cases.
Thanks.

Re: Reckless driving legal fee
A trial of the reckless driving charge in the defendant's absence will ordinarily result in the defendant being convicted of the charge.
A $500 to $600 attorney's fee to represent a defendant charged with reckless driving in the Commonwealth(a Class 1 misdemeanor and therefore jailable offense) would not be unreasonable.
