Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

reckless driving

I was pulled in the highway safety corridor on I-95 in Richmond, VA. The trooper claims he paced me at 80mph in a 55mph. After he wrote the summons, I asked if he was sure that it was 80. I know that I was not going 80mph that he claims I was going. I am going to get a calibration to see when my car reads 80mph is really 80mph. What other options do I have?

Re: reckless driving

I agree with Mr. Hendrickson, and will add that an attorney will get much more cooperation from the police and commonwealth attorney in Richmond than you will if acting on your own.

Re: reckless driving

Better see if you can secure an attorney to represent you in this matter who should be able to get a disposition that will be less serious than reckless driving.

Under no circumstances should you agree to plead guilty to reckless driving.
